The best time of the year to go to Baguio, aside from summer months, is in February. Because this is the month of Baguio’s world-famous festival, the Panagbenga Festival. This is a month-long celebration of the City of Pines’ beautiful blooms on which the festival was derived from.
The celebration is highlighted by the Grand Float Parade and street dancing which both display the beauty of Baguio’s blooms. Panagbenga Festival, formerly Baguio Flower festival started in 1995 by Atty. Damaso Bangaoet Jr. of the John Hay Poro Point Development Corporation (JPDC) and Victor A. Lim of the Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA). They decided to hold the annual flower festival in February to boost the city’s tourism because it is said to be an ‘inactive month’ between the Christmas season and summer vacation.
